What makes Frank Bell’s approach to natural horsemanship so
different?

Frank Bell has single-handedly taken the mystery out of the natural
horsemanship movement and created a logical set of exercises that put a
solid foundation underneath the horse and rider.  Most importantly, it is
easy to understand and implement immediately, and you don't need a round
pen!  He calls it his 7-Step Safety System.

Most riders do very little work to prepare the horse to ride.  This is what
Frank Bell's program is all about - preparing the horse for the ride.

Frank confronts the problems on the ground before riding the horse.  It's
quite similar to a pilot checking his plane before takeoff.  Most importantly,
you have reduced risk and have the highest probability for a successful
ride.  In the event of a surprise, the horse and rider have a definitive place
to retreat and regroup.

This does not take years of practice and multiple tests.  It's about having a
plan and working it right now.  If the horse is ready, he'll invite the ride.  If
he isn't ready to ride, don't.  This is about safety!  When the invitation
does come from the horse, a true partnership exists that will carry them
both to amazing places.

Frank has based his system on the teachings of the Plains Indians, as well
as Buck Brannaman, the renowned “Horse Whisperer” on whom the Robert
Redford movie was based.  He was also inspired by the Dorrance brothers,
the grandfathers of the natural horsemanship movement, as we know it
today.  Frank Bell also studied horse expert Linda Tellington-Jones who uses
the “sense of touch” to heal horses.

My 7-Step Safety System puts the horse and rider on much higher ground prior to the ride and takes about 80-90% of the risk out of the ride".

I just wanted to say how totally impressed I am with the dvds I have seen so far, I have had a few issues with my TB horse Freddy nothing too drastically serious but never the less we both lost a bit of confidence along the way, I have watched and rewatched your 7 SSS, and communication in the saddle, it all makes so much sense, so as soon as I feel I have the exercises truly planted in my mind I shall start then with all what you advise. Thanks again for the easy way of explaining things so clearly.

Cris Magnabosco

Hi Libby,
Cris won another ride with your halter and equipedic saddle pad. What a way to celebrate your 60th birthday. He destroyed the field winning 81 km race by over an hour. Not only winning heavyweight division carrying 101.5 kilos but also best overall time. There were 105 horses in the ride. It was very hot and humid and hard to keep the horses body temp down.
